Changing Locks

Why would you ever think about changing locks on your doors. Turns out there are many reasons that you should consider a lock change on your doors. If you buy a home from someone else you never know who they have given out keys to. You should make sure that you change the locks so that you are the only person with the keys.

Another situation where you may want to consider changing the locks on your doors is if you own a commercial building or a rental building of any type. As a commercial building owner chances are there are going to be many of your employees who come and go. If you fire an employee who has a key, getting the key back from them is often not enough to ensure the safety of your building. After all, there is no way to really know whether or not they have had a key made during their time of employment.

If you do not know what keys to your building are out there, the only way to ensure that it is safe is to make sure that you have all of the locks changed out. You can then make sure that you only give out keys to employees who actually need them.

As the owner of a fast food place, my managers are provided with keys in order to open and close up the shop. As anyone knows, fast food is a business that has a fairly high turn around point. For this reason, every time one of my managers quits, I make sure that I change the locks on the doors that they had keys to. While this may seem silly, at one point I had a former manager leave his keys and did not think about having the locks changed. He ended up coming in one night after we were closed and stealing money from the safe. Fortunately, he was caught on video, but the money was never returned.
